What's e36, e46, e90, e34???

As a e36 driver myself I am also confused about what those other terms meant much less those who dont drive a bimmer. E36 is one of the first few generation of the 3 series manufacture by BMW.

The different models that I am aware of are the 1 series hatchback which is relatively new I think, and then the all popular 3 series, followed by the 5 series and then the 7 series. The 6 series if I am not mistaken is the sport car model of BMW.

3 Series

3 series also comes with their 2 doors coupes, M3 racing machines and 4 doors sedan. The e36 is the last batch of Bimmers that came with a 1.6 litre engine aka 316, then the 318, and the 320, there is also the more powerful 323, 325 and 330. e45 is the next model followed by e90 which is the latest model.

5 series

With 5 series it's the M5 racing demons, and there is the 520i, 523i, 530i or maybe even higher capacity engine. Some of the more affordable 5 series on Singapore road today are the e34. I will try to find some photo so case them there. 5 series is probably in the same league as the E class in Mercedes Benz.

7 seires

7 Series start from 730, 735, 740, 745 etc. These are the direct competitors of the Mercedes Benz S-Class.
