3 series Radiator

The radiator was something I did not check before I boughy my ride, so obvious and yet so often neglected by many. Radiator cools the engine and a leaking radiator is no laughing matter as it can cause severe damage to the engine.

My radiator was leaking and I needed to top up once every 2/3 days depending on the distance I travel. It was not major as I do not drive long distance, or drive around for a long time. It's always to work and back from work. COrrosion within the radiator which cause the leak is common, and I guess after 14/5 years of operating, it's about time for a change. Most of the shops I asked charged about 300 to 400 plus for a brand new radiator.

I was not about to part with the money so easily, decided to hang on and just put up with the inconvenience of topping the water every alternate days just to be on the safe side, about 2 months ago, went over to a workshop in Tampines that specialize in BMWs, the owner Mr Chia offered to replace my radiator at just 200 plus and with labour, the cost just over $250.

It was a pretty simple operation, the fan was removed followed by the faulty radiator.
The new OEM radiator from Denmark was fixed. Next they had to pump out the residue from the previous radiator, leaving it there will just cause the corrosion to occur much earlier.

By the way, corrosion is inevitable, so the only thing we can do is to minimize it by flushing it from time to time.

All in all, it took about 2 hours to get the job completed, was given a bottle of BMW coolants to add on the next day if the coolant level ever drops to the certain level. Since that day, no top up ever!
