e36 sold
after driving my below bmw e36 for more than 4 years, i finally sold it on the 16th of dec 2010. and yes i am still driving a bmw. ;) a much newer one.
i think the fear of driving a old bmw has been blown out of proportion by people who rely on hearsay and just parroting what others said instead of hearing from those who have first hand experience. the same problem that occurs to a bmw can very well happen to any car.
driving a performance car is all about driving pleasure...in my 4 years of driving the e36 with almost 290k mileage, i do not recall encountering any major problem whatsoever. the most major repair was repairing the internal compressor unit which is understandable for an older car.
again, u have to check the condition of your pre-owned car before committing. go to a smaller workshop not those STA or branded workshops.
an older european car is probably a good starting point for those transit from a jap/korean car. cost will always be a higher but in exchange, what you get in return as far as experience is concerned, is priceless. ;)
